from Psalm 118 -- Your kindness is everlasting. The tune is adapted from an anonymous 13th century Italian melody. While I can't prove that Francis knew this melody, it stands to reason that some passing troubadour played it for him at some point. This passing troubadour has invented it anew.
lyrics
Hodu l’Adonai ki tov,
Ki l’olam chasdo
ki l’olam chasdo
Give thanks unto God, for God is good
Your kindness endures forever
ki l’olam chasdo
This is the Day the Lord has made
Let us Rejoice and be glad in it
ki l’olam chasdo
Odecha ki anitani,
vati li lishuah
ki l’olam chasdo
Thanks be to God, who answers my prayer
Thanks be to God, my salvation
ki l’olam chasdo
Pit-chu li sha’arey tzedek,
Avo vam odeh Yah
ki l’olam chasdo
Open the gates of righteousness
that I may enter and thank the Lord
ki l’olam chasdo
Blessed is the one who comes in Your name
Blessings and praise from house of the Lord
ki l’olam chasdo
